Explosions in the Sky

A little detour from books.
Relax....Enjoy.

1984 by George Orwell

"People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word."

1984 is George Orwell's follow-up to Animal Farm. The book is Orwell's imagining of a dystopian future where everything is controlled by Big Brother.
Terms like Big Brother, Newspeak, Doublethink, Thoughtcrime have become part contemporary language.
First published in 1949, it is regarded as one of the best novels of all time. Modern Library ranked 1984 thirteenth on its list of 100 best English novels of the 20th century.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world

A very thought provoking book. How right has Orwell been?

Animal Farm by George Orwell

"No question now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

Animal Farm is a novella by George Orwell first published in 1946. It is a dystopian allegory, a mirror of the soviet union.
This book and Orwell's follow-up, 1984, were banned in the eastern block up until the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989.

I really enjoyed this book.
As I was reading the book I found myself trying to match the book's characters with real historical figures.
Having some knowledge on the soviet revolution or communism really helps to fully comprehend it's story and impact.

A book that I would recommend to everyone.
