Animal Farm by George Orwell

"No question now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

Animal Farm is a novella by George Orwell first published in 1946. It is a dystopian allegory, a mirror of the soviet union.
This book and Orwell's follow-up, 1984, were banned in the eastern block up until the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989.

I really enjoyed this book.
As I was reading the book I found myself trying to match the book's characters with real historical figures.
Having some knowledge on the soviet revolution or communism really helps to fully comprehend it's story and impact.

A book that I would recommend to everyone.

  1. George Orwell is one of my favorite authors of all time, next to greats such as Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury. Good reading, indeed. Animal Farm was not his best, but definitely a unique commentary on real-world communism.

  2. I remember this book. It was a good book. I think they made us read it in sophomore year of high school. Then we were forced to analyze the crap out of it. Good stuff.
